Annealing is a heat treatment of heating the die steel to Ac3 (hypo-eutectoid steel) or Accm (eutectoid and hyper-eutectoid steel) above 30~50°C, obtaining austenite, cooling in air, and heat treatment of a uniform structure containing pearlite craft.
The purpose of normalizing: the normalizing of die steel is to improve the machinability, eliminate hot working defects, eliminate the network carbide in the hypereutectoid die steel, prepare for the spheroidizing annealing structure, and improve the mechanical properties of the die.
Annealing is a heat treatment process in which the die steel is heated to a temperature above or below the critical point Ac1, and then slowly cooled with the furnace temperature after heat preservation to obtain a near-equilibrium structure.
The purpose of annealing: The main purpose is to homogenize the chemical composition and structure of the die steel, refine the grains, adjust the hardness, eliminate stress and work hardening, improve the forming and machinability of the steel, and prepare the structure for quenching.
Die steel annealing classification: The types of die steel annealing include diffusion annealing, isothermal annealing, incomplete annealing, spheroidizing annealing, recrystallization annealing and stress relief annealing.
